Postal Food Drive & Holiday Food Project

WOBURN LETTER CARRIERS
HENRY SHAUGHNESSY MEMORIAL HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28

On Saturday, October 28, the Letter Carriers of the Woburn Post Office will conduct their annual holiday food drive to benefit Council of Social Concern’s Food Pantry.  They do this in memory of Henry Shaughnessy, who wore the uniform of the Woburn Letter Carriers and spread compassion, generosity and good will along his route for 50 years.

You can contribute to this critically important food drive by putting out your non-perishable food donations on Saturday, October 28 before your mail is delivered.  Your Letter Carrier will collect it for the Council of Social Concern’s Food Pantry.  If you don’t have time to shop or would like to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to “Council of Social Concern Food Pantry” and leave it clearly marked for your Letter Carrier.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY FOOD PROJECT

At Council of Social Concern’s Food Pantry, preparations are underway for the 32nd Annual Holiday Food Project.  During this project, baskets containing food items for a holiday meal are prepared and distributed to needy families in Woburn and Winchester.  This is truly a community effort that would not be possible without the participation of many volunteers and donors.

If you are in need of holiday food assistance, please contact the Council of Social Concern at 781-935-6495.  (If you are currently using the Food Pantry, a Thanksgiving application will be given to you during your October visit.)

If you would like to find out how you can help provide a brighter holiday season for our “neighbors in need”, please call 781-935-6495 to inquire about our Donor and Volunteer Opportunities.
